The housing is the front group of the meat grinder, the cylindrical body in which the auger runs, pushing the meat towards the perforated plate and the knife. It is one of the most stressed parts of the machine, subject to heavy friction wear and pressure during grinding: over time the internal surfaces of the housing and the clearance with the auger can increase, causing reduced output, meat build-up, overheating during grinding or difficulty fitting accessories (plates, knife, dies). In the enclosed version the housing also integrates the cased enclosure that encloses the transmission group, offering greater protection and a neater finish than the open version.

When the housing is worn, scored internally or damaged it must be replaced to maintain correct grinding and proper coupling with the other components of the model 12 grinder assembly.
