Unlike a normal filter, the blind filter has no holes: fitted into the portafilter in place of the regular filter basket, it allows the brew group to be backflushed, pushing water and a specific detergent backward through the solenoid valve and internal ducts to remove oily coffee residues. It is a periodic maintenance accessory: the backflush cycle with the blind filter should be carried out regularly (typically at the end of the day/service) to keep the group clean and efficient.
