The pressure switch is the electromechanical component that controls the water level in the tank by means of the pressure exerted by the water column on a small capillary tube connected to the device: when the level reaches the trip threshold (110 mm) the contact opens and stops the water fill, while when the level drops below the reset threshold (70 mm) the contact closes again and restarts the filling.

It should be replaced when the dishwasher no longer stops the water fill, risking overflow from the tank, or when filling no longer starts due to a worn or oxidised electrical contact.
