The sieve is the perforated filter fitted to the RGV Pommy tomato press (part no. 110204), the component that separates the tomato purée from the processing waste. As the tomatoes are pressed, the pulp and juice pass through the sieve's holes, while the skins and seeds are held back and pushed out through the waste outlet. It's an essential spare part for anyone who regularly uses the RGV Pommy tomato press to bottle sauce: without a sound sieve, the purée can come out thicker with seeds and skin fragments, giving a less clean result. The sieve is washable and should be cleaned thoroughly after each use, so that tomato residue doesn't dry into the holes and reduce its performance. When the sieve is worn, perforated beyond normal wear or deformed, it no longer filters correctly and the purée comes out full of seeds: in that case it needs replacing. This spare part is specific to the RGV Pommy model, part no. 110204.
