The silver tie rod mod. 300/300 S-G/300E is the threaded rod (tie rod) that secures and tensions the blade cover on Silver 300-series gravity slicers. Screwed into its housing, it firmly locks the guard over the non-cutting edge of the blade, keeping it in place during operation: it is therefore a component that contributes to operator safety as well as to the correct mechanical setup of the blade unit.
With use and repeated removal for cleaning, the tie rod is subject to wear: a stripped thread, a bent pin or play in the coupling will prevent the blade cover from clamping securely. In these cases it must be replaced, because a blade cover that no longer stays locked in position is a hazard. Fitting is straightforward: remove the worn tie rod and screw the replacement into the same seat.
