The silver tie rod mod. 195/22/25/275/300 is the threaded rod that secures and locks the blade guard of the slicer. Screwed onto the blade assembly, it holds the metal guard firmly in place during use and allows it to be removed for thorough cleaning of the cutting area.
In daily use the thread is subject to wear and loosening: a tie rod with a stripped thread, a bent pin or excessive play no longer holds the blade guard in position, compromising safety while cutting. Replacing the tie rod restores the proper locking of the blade guard.
