Extension for blade guard microswitch (ref. ARSAFF0051): a component of the slicer safety circuit. It mechanically transfers the position of the blade guard to the rod of the safety microswitch, acting as the link between the guard and the electrical limit switch.

Its purpose is operator protection: when the blade guard is properly seated and closed, the extension keeps the microswitch actuated and allows the machine to start; if the guard is removed or not in its closed position, the contact opens, preventing start-up and stopping the slicer. This protects the operator from accidental contact with the rotating blade.

It should be replaced when worn, deformed or bent: a damaged extension can compromise correct actuation of the microswitch and, in turn, the reliability of the safety device. As a safety-circuit part, it must be kept in good condition and replaced promptly in case of play or malfunction.
